Take Supplements
Before taking any supplements, make sure to consult with your healthcare professional to make sure that it’s safe for yourself and your baby, especially if you’re breastfeeding. Some have been advised to take their prenatal supplements to get the vitamins your body needs. It has also been observed that taking oral supplements with biotin and collagen can cause an improvement in hair growth rate.
Eat a Healthy Diet and Stay Hydrated
Eating foods that are rich in vitamins D, E and C, iron, biotin and omega-3 fatty acids are scientifically proven to help promote healthy hair growth. Some of these foods include salmon, spinach and eggs. Drinking water is also the best way to keep your body hydrated. Severe dehydration can leave your hair thirsty too which can result in dry and brittle hair that can break off easily. Getting the right nutrition and proper hydration can keep your hair healthy.
Get The Right Shampoo
This is more like a trial and error for most moms. Because what works for other moms, may not work for you. Make sure to test out one shampoo and observe how your hair reacts to it before deciding to stick with it or switch to a new one. It is best to avoid hair products that weigh down your hair or is too heavy or harsh. Some moms recommend shampoos that have biotin and/or collagen.
Massage Your Scalp
Research shows that scalp massages stimulate the follicles to produce thicker and healthier hair. You can apply Moroccan or coconut oil to massage your scalp. You can use your fingertips and gently work the oil into your scalp applying light to medium pressure. You can also use rubber massagers or brushes on your scalp.
Avoid Putting Too Much Stress on Your Hair
Your hair will be prone to breakage. Putting your hair under physical stress can contribute to more hair shedding. Pulling the hair into tight knots or buns will result in hair getting pulled out of the roots. Use coil hair ties to prevent getting your hair snagged or pulled. You can also stop roughing up a towel to dry your hair, instead, use a microfiber hair turban to absorb excess moisture. Invest in a good wet brush to save your fragile hair from tugging or ripping. Avoid heat styling your hair as much as possible.
