The Famous Grouse was first produced by Matthew Gloag & Son in 1896, currently produced and owned by The Edrington Group.  The single malt whiskies used in The Famous Grouse blend include the Edrington-owned Highland Park and The Macallan.  Its emblem is the Red Grouse, Scotland's national game bird._

The whisky has a golden clear and bright appearance.    The flavour is a well balance oak, sherry with a hint of citrus.  The taste is a matured medium full with speyside fruitiness.  It finishes with a clean good length, medium dry.
